Description

You are ready for sharp and precise braking of the Land Rover Defender?

You have a first Land rover 90/110/130?

This kit is for you!! Double your braking performance without spending thousands of dollars on big brakes! This kit will improve the performance of your Defender braking system whether you have standard brakes, high performance or large!

TRW Servo is the original equipment unit

Kit servo LOF POWERboost per adattarsi a EARLY Land Rover 90/110/130 (For 300tdi)

Control list- This fits your Early Defender?

  1. Your Defender does not have ABS

  2. Your Defender has 2 pipes from the main cylinder (see product photos to confirm master cylinder)

  3. Your Defender runs a horizontally mounted master cylinder (see product photos to confirm master cylinder)

  4. Your Defender was made before 1992

  5. Your Defender was originally a 2.5 NA/2.5TD/V8/200tdi

At that time, what is it?

This kit allows you to remove the original brake booster, screw the LOF POWERboost ring to the brake pedal housing and then install a later model, Stronger ABS servo in place, part number SJG100240. Using this lof adapter, you can then reassemble a later style brake master cylinder to the later dual diaphragm servo, more powerful, leaving your reservoir/cylinder in the correct orientation. Doing this doubles the servo assistance given to the master cylinder, reducing the effort of the pedal and significantly improving braking performance! So much so that the tests have shown that the braking is significantly better than an ABS Defender!

*The new brake servo part number SJG100240 does not have to be purchased from us, you can use a second hand one or one from another location, make sure it's a dual diaphragm servo (2 crimping set) *some of the cheaper ones seem to have only 1 diaphragm*

Tools needed to fit:

  1. 10/11/13/14 mm there

  2. Prey of 13 mm + ratchet

  3. Flat head screwdriver

  4. Screw pick / small screwdriver to remove a split pin

  5. Brake fluid + brake lines

Additional parts required to fit:

  • You will need a new master cylinder a 2 door of an ABS Defender (LR013017) o da a master ABS a 3 porte (BRAKE PUMP REVISION KIT)

  • New brake lines made to fit

  • SJG100240 Servo ABS

Assembly instructions:

Fitting this early conversion kit to Land Rover 90/110/130 it will take a while’ of re-piping the brake lines and it's quite complicated. Make sure you have the facilities to make new brake lines and the ability to work on the brakes safely.

  1. Open the hood and identify the position of the brake servo servo

  2. Remove i 2 rubber grommets on the side of the pedal box as shown in the diagram below,

  3. Remove the divided pivot, the washer and clevis pin that connect the old brake booster to the pedal arm

  4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the old brake booster – this simply comes off

  5. Disconnect the brake lines and drain the brake fluid from the master cylinder

  6. Cancel i 2 fixing nuts (head from 13 mm, M8) who hold the master of the brake to the old Servant and remove

  7. Undo dice 4x 13 mm (M8) holding the old diaphragm to the pedal box and remove the old servo

At this point you are back to assembly, take this time to clean the face of the pedal box/any other easily accessible areas

  1. Take the new servant and the Lof PowerBoost ring, Place the ring above the rear pins on the new double diaphragm servant, note that there are 2 series of counter-drilled holes, for this application you have to use the ones further forward, clockwise.

  2. Use the supplied 2x M8 flange nylocs to tighten the ring to the new servo, up to a couple of 25 nm

  3. Take the entire assembly and reinstall it into the brake pedal housing, add i 4 M8 cap head bolts loosely on the back to hold it in place

  4. Asking an assistant for help, move the brake pedal until the servo rod holes align with the hole in the brake pedal arm and add the clevis pin, staring with the washer + split pin. Repurpose the 2x access eyelets

  5. Check again- you should now have the studs pointing out the front of the servo, in the position of 10 and of 4 looking from the front!

  6. Tighten them 4 M8 cap heads holding the new servo to the pedal box, to a couple of 25 nm

  7. (A) Using the Late ABS Master a 2 tubes (LR013017), Mount it on the new Servo using the standard O-ring supplied with the servo, tightening the two M8 mounting nuts a 25 Nm. You will then have to implement 2 new brake lines to run from the Master ABS to the bias valve on the bulkhead, making sure you get the front and rear doors matched correctly.

  8. (B) Using the 3 Late NON ABS Master tubes (BRAKE PUMP REVISION KIT) install the new master cylinder on the new servo, using the flat rubber gasket included in this POWERboost kit. Next you will have to do 3 new brake lines to run from new master cylinder to rear bias valve/two front brake calipers. making sure you get the front and rear doors matched correctly.

  9. Drain the brakes thoroughly and check for hydraulic and vacuum leaks

  10. The Pushrod inside the brake servo is preset, This can on any occasion need to be adjusted manually using a key/socket 7 mm to increase servo effectiveness/reduce pedal travel. Note that the adjustment required is minimal!

Once finished, Since you worked on the braking system, Double check your work to be sure

Note:

  1. Make sure you are happy/competent and comfortable working on your brake system before you begin

  2. Now you have significantly improved brake performance and it will take a while’ time to get used to, please drive accordingly

  3. This is a modification of the performance that we have tested in collaboration with independent specialists all over the world, However, it is your responsibility to make sure the kit is mounted correctly and safely, LOF is not responsible for incorrect assembly!

  4. Enjoy this update with care

  5. Make sure the rest of your braking system is in good condition before setting off
